"Yes, there is honor even amongst thieves."
from The Opera, Code of Honor
Snaggin
is a term used for acquirin graphics, tubes, stuff off the
web. Everybody snags graphics. An honorable snagger only takes what's allowed,
gives credit to the snagee, and links to those snagees that require a link back
to the site the item's snagged from. Folks work hard on their graphics. They
deserve credit for their labors of love. It's absolutely wrong to just take,
and not give credit. I used to do this. I didn't know it was wrong. I had
tons of graphics I got from all over the web, built Ruby's Rompin Room, never
gave much thought to it, didn't know about snaggin etiquitte at all. Then, I met
KC of KC's Naughty Playground and Sweet Naughtiness and got it explained to me. Since then, I linked or put an
"alt code" that shows where I got every graphic I use on my site that's from others
that I know of, got rid of a ton of graphics that I couldn't link back to
or show where they came from, and I've replaced all graphics with my own except
for a few dolls. Now, that I make graphics, I know what it takes. And, I understand
how folks deserve their due for their work.
I suggest strongly you befome
familiar with who you can use and who you can't use. And, you better find
out the rules each artist has for the use of their works.
Now havin
said that, I also know this is the World Wide Web, and folks will take stuff
and use it. It's just how it is, unfortunately.
But, I don't think we tag
makers and tubers should use things not allowed to be used.
Give credit
to those ya snag from.
